The East Central Expansion project included replacing a small addition with a larger one customized to fit the homeowners’ needs. Located off the kitchen the existing addition included the laundry, tight staircase to the mechanical room and crawlspace, and awkward door to the backyard. What it lacked was proper storage and flow.
With the home being built in the early 1900s, one of our top priorities was ensuring that the exterior of the addition tied in with the original Bungalow home. We carefully designed the addition to tie in with the existing home while also adding the more modern functions that the homeowners desired. This included adding a larger laundry area with room with room to walk through, a large landing that functions as a mudroom with cabinets and space for seating, and a staircase with access to the new 100+ square foot storage room. On the outside, we carefully designed this addition to coordinate with the original brick and added a large patio area with a pergola.
